Dallas (0-5) at Pittston Area (1-4)
7 p.m. today
The Coaches: Dallas’ Bob Zaruta (7-9, 2nd year) Pittston Area’s Mike Barrett (7-18, 3rd year)
Last Meeting: Dallas 35-0 in 2012
All-Time Series: Pittston Area leads 17-16
Quick Fact: Pittston Area turned over the ball a season-high four times in last year’s loss.
Scouting Dallas: It’s pretty obvious where Dallas’ troubles are. Just look at last Saturday’s 21-7 loss to Williamsport. The defense surrenders just 147 yards and forces six punts. The offense finally gives the Mounts the lead, but turns over the ball three times and finishes with 73 yards. Plus, one interception was returned for a touchdown. It’s been that way all year with no real solution at hand.
Scouting Pittston Area: The Patriots were hoping they could turn the corner this year. Instead, they’ve been stuck in a circle of last year’s woes. The offense is too inconsistent and the defense gives up big chunks of yards on the ground. The offense has one turnover in the last three games, but hasn’t been able to crack 100 yards either via ground or air. The run defense has allowed over 1,000 yards during that span, but that should change because Dallas can’t run the ball.
What To Expect: A low-scoring game looks on tap. Dallas has two touchdowns all year, while Pittston Area hasn’t scored more than 18 points in a game. An offensive struggle that will be disguised as a defensive battle.
