Hazleton Area (2-3) at Crestwood (4-1)

7 p.m. Saturday

The Coaches: Hazleton Area’s Jim Drumheller (7-18, 3rd year); Crestwood’s Greg Myers (52-49, 8th year)

Last Meeting: Crestwood 33-13 in 2012

All-Time Series: Hazleton Area leads 6-3

Quick Fact: Hazleton Area led 13-0 after the first quarter in last year’s meeting.

Scouting Hazleton Area: The Cougars may have turned the corner a bit last Friday with a 26-7 victory over Pittston Area. It was the first time since Weeks 4 and 5 of the 2011 season that they won consecutive games. RB Zach Zukoski ran for a career-high four TDs in the win, the same total he had the entire 2012 season. The team has also posted its two best games running the ball during the modest winning streak. The defense has shown improvement each week, but the quality of the opposition has diminished as well.

Scouting Crestwood: There isn’t much to gripe about Crestwood’s 56-0 rout of Tunkhannock last Friday. The Comets, obviously, dominated all aspects of the game. A big factor has been ball security as they have just one turnover in the last three contests. RB Frank Aigeldinger ran for three TDs, the third consecutive game he’s had at least three. Crestwood is picking its spots to throw and QB Jay Popson has been reliable. The defense has held three opponents under 100 yards rushing.

What To Expect: Both teams bring a lot of momentum into the game. It could be a matter of which team is able to breaks the other’s spirit first.
