Wyoming Area (3-4) at GAR (1-6)

7 p.m. today

The Coaches: Wyoming Area’s Randy Spencer (34-29, 6th year); GAR’s Paul Wiedlich Jr. (30-14, 4th year)

Last Meeting: Wyoming Area 48-15 in 2012

All-Time Series: Wyoming Area leads 16-11-1

Quick Fact: Wyoming Area’s victory last year snapped a five-game losing streak to GAR.

Scouting Wyoming Area: After searching for an offensive identity, Wyoming Area may have found it in its last two games. The Warriors have pounded 210-pound RB Jeff Skursky at the opposition 67 times for 455 yards and seven TDs, including last Saturday’s 14-8 win over Meyers. QB Ryan Gorki added 49 more yards on the ground, which at least kept Meyers thinking about another run alternative. Special teams continue to be a problem as the Warriors allowed a return touchdown for a second consecutive week.

Scouting GAR: The Grenadiers was tied with Hanover Area deep into the third quarter last Friday only to falter and lose 22-14. It’s been like that many times this season for the perennial playoff contenders. They can get on top of the hump, but just can’t get over it. The offense was kept out of the end zone in the second half for a second consecutive game. The run defense hasn’t been up to the task against opponents who like to bash big running backs between the tackles.

What To Expect: Wyoming Area poked its head back into the D2-2A playoff race with last week’s win, but could be right out of it if it takes GAR lightly because the Grenadiers will get over that hump some time this season.
