Lake-Lehman (6-1) at Nanticoke (3-4)
7 p.m. today
The Coaches: Lehman’s Jerry Gilsky (24-15, 4th year); Nanticoke’s Ron Bruza (14-22, 4th year)
Last Meeting: Lehman 46-14 in 2012
All-Time Series: Nanticoke leads 24-18
Quick Fact: Lehman outscored Nanticoke 29-7 in the second half of last year’s meeting.
Scouting Lehman: The Black Knights rolled to their sixth consecutive victory as RB Dustin Jones ran for a career-high 374 yards in a 38-27 victory over Northwest. The Black Knights scored a couple TDs late in the third quarter to keep Northwest at arm’s length and put themselves in the driver’s seat for the WVC Division 2A-A title. DB Josh Winters returned an interception for a touchdown for a second time this season, but overall Gilsky wasn’t thrilled about the pass defense that allowed 156 yards and three touchdown passes.
Scouting Nanticoke: Nanticoke’s roller coaster season continued as the Trojans topped Holy Redeemer 52-34 last Saturday. RB Pat Hempel rushed for a career-high 258 yards as Nanticoke finished with a season-high 388 yards on the ground. The pass defense gave up 469 yards and five scores, but was thrown at 42 times. That’s the same number as the three previous games combined. LB Alec Norton intercepted two passes, giving him four on the season. The Trojans shut down Redeemer’s running game, which was pretty good a week earlier against Wyoming Area.
What To Expect: Although Nanticoke will probably be able to count the number of passes it sees on one hand, it won’t matter. Lehman has too many guys who can run the ball to make that matter.
