Fall 2012 WVC Record/Finish: 15-0/WVC Champions

Fall 2012 postseason: Lost to Scranton Prep 6-1 in District 2 championship; Lost to Trinity (Camp Hill) 2-0 in first round of PIAAs

Classification: 2A

Players to watch: Senior - Allison Rinehimer; Juniors- Brianna Floryshak, Olivia Conklin, Olivia Seeley, Olivia Watkins, Carly Montecalvo, Priscilla Mitchell, Nicole Taylor.

Coach’s Outlook: “Nothing has changed as far as layout goes. We expect to compete for the district title like we have for the past four years. These girls have been playing together so much since they’ve been young. They know how to play together.”


Fall 2012 WVC Record/Finish: 10-3-2/Fifth

Fall 2012 postseason: Lost 6-0 to Dallas in quarters

Classification: 2A

Coach: Joe Spagnuolo

Home field: Solomon Plains Junior High School

Players to watch: Seniors - Jasmine Barreto, Kaitlyn Pearage, Nora Fazzi, Katrina Kaeser, Stephanie Yankoksi; Juniors - Julia Miller, Megan Lercara, Amber Colleran; Sophomores- Breanne Georgette, Hailee Dumont, Mary Tona, Emma Sukowaski, Casey Lello, Cassidy Steligo

Outlook: After a rebuilding year, Coughlin brings back some of the top midfielders and forwards in the league. They display speed and the ability to strike from outside the penalty box.


Fall 2012 WVC Record/Finish: 6-7-2/Ninth

Classification: 2A

Coach: Russ Kile

Home field: Football stadium

Players to watch: Seniors - Gabby Termini, Meg White, Morgan Kile, Rachael Lackenmier, Autumn Atkinson, Allie Kachel; Juniors - Olivia Termini, Natalie Sulkowski

Outlook: The Comets had an outstanding spring season but field hockey and injuries hampered them more than any other team. Look for Crestwood to rebound and shake the traditional soccer powers this season. Morgan Kile will juggle field hockey and soccer and could be a difference maker.

Home field: High School, Michael Cleary Field

Players to watch: Juniors - Sydney Emershaw, MF; Ruby Mattson, MF; Courtney Wagner, D; Talia Szatkowski, F; Ashley Strazdus, F; Sophomore - Tiffany Zukosky, MF

Coach’s Outlook: “We have a young but talented team. We should be one of the teams to compete for the league title. If we make progress, we should have a good showing for the district title.”

Hanover Area

Fall 2012 WVC Record/Finish: 4-9-2/11th

Fall 2012 postseason: None

Classification: 2A

Coach: Brian Bannon

Home field: Football stadium/Hanover Area soccer field

Players to watch: Seniors - Caitlyn Bogart, M; Junior - Larissa Bannon, F

Outlook: The Hawkeyes stumbled down the stretch last year. Hanover Area showed good movement of the ball and could take some of the positives last season, most notably its midfield play, and parlay it into a winning season.

Hazleton Area

Fall 2012 WVC Record/Finish: 4-11/12th

Fall 2012 postseason: Lost 8-0 to Wallenpaupack in district semis

Classification: 3A

Coach: Jim Paisley

Home field: Maple Manor Complex (Bishop Hafey field)

Players to watch: Junior - Hayley Wilkinson, GK; Josie Zapotosky, M; Emily Malone, D. Sophomore - Madison Polumbo, M.

Coach’s Outlook: “The team is taking form and are ready for this new year’s challenge. Our Goal is to improve from last season, working together through communication, delivering an upset win over one of the traditional powerhouse teams, and going deeper into the District 2 playoffs.”

Holy Redeemer

Fall 2012 WVC Record/Finish: 10-4-1/Sixth

Fall 2012 postseason: Lost 2-1 to Valley View in district play-in game

Classification: 2A

Coach: Bob Hughes

Home field: Eddie White Field, Parsons, Wilkes-Barre

Players to watch: Senior - Nina Paoloni, D. Juniors - Emily Schramm, M; Olivia Gregorio, M; Lauren Manganello, M; Sophomores - Lydia Lawson, F; Leeann Wasiakowski, D; Alyson Manley, D; Gabby Tomasura, GK

Coach’s Outlook: “We are looking to build off of a good season last year, we are a young team and are having some good battles for starting spots. We hope to build team chemistry and roster depth early in the season and earn a playoff spot in districts.”

Fall 2012 postseason: Lost 1-0 to Berwick in district semis

Classification: 2A

Home field: Football stadium

Coach: Kelly Adamshick

Players to watch: Seniors - Shoshana Mahoney, Emily Sutton, Kaylee Hillard

Outlook: Lake-Lehman played in a different element late in the year compared to the beginning of the season. Expect Sutton to become one of the stronger players in the conference. The team hosts the best wealth of senior experience in the league, and Mahoney is a nature-born forward.
