Reader urges voters to back pro-life candidates

Voting for pro-life candidates is important. It is obviously the most important issue. Primary Election Day is May 21.

A salute to all our strong and fearless warriors

To the men and women facing the rigors of combat, show not your anger, nor your pain, for you are proud, yet hard and cold.

Empathy, conscience, guilt and fear are no longer acceptable as parts of your person. To allow those emotions is to compromise your own perimeter and therefore lessen your chances of survival.

You will be strong and relentless. You will respect your enemy, but you will search out and destroy them. A salute and luck to our warriors.

Bob Gust Nanticoke

Republicans are said to think only of themselves

What is wrong with these Republican politicians?! Can’t they see what the impact of the sequestering will have on the middle class?

They are so quick to blame the President when things are bad but now that the economy is finally turning around, they want to send our economy down the tubes. Interest rates are down, housing sales are up, unemployment is going down. If they continue with the cuts they propose, interest rates will rise, housing sales will plummet again and unemployment will take a nose-dive!

They will be the first ones to point their fingers and take none of the blame for what will happen to the economy. As my father always said, the Republicans are always for the rich and don’t care what happens to the middle class or less fortunate. They will sit back on their big, fat paychecks, and subsequent pensions, while the rest of the country struggles to make ends meet. They have to look at the whole picture and realize they do not have our entire country in their best interest, just their own.

Republicans are not acting in the best interest of the greatest number, but only thinking of themselves. Personal progress for the greatest number depends upon unity. Both sides have to come together for the betterment of our country.
