Officials of the InterMountain Medical Group recently renewed their commitment to The Commonwealth Medical College scholarship fund with a $100,000 contribution. As a member of TCMC’s Founders Society, IMMG provided an $80,000 student scholarship in 2009 in support of the 2013 charter class.

According to the American Academy of Medical Colleges, medical school graduates accumulate an average debt of $170,000.

Steven J. Scheinman, M.D., president and dean of TCMC, said scholarships reduce the burden of debt for students and strengthen the school’s ability to recruit students with diverse backgrounds and experiences, especially those who are economically disadvantaged.
