WEST PITTSTON — A 57-year-old man was arrested on charges he downloaded and emailed video clips of young girls engaged in sex acts with adults.

Donald Charles Tompkins, of Blackman Street, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon by District Judge Joseph Carmody on 10 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of dissemination of children engaged in sex acts and a single count of criminal use of communication facility.

He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Authorities were led to Tompkins’ residence based on several cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

According to the criminal complaint:

Two cyber tips were received in July and October that two AOL emails were used to send video clips of young girls performing sex acts on men to two Hotmail emails.

The emails were traced to a computer in Tompkins’ residence.

Luzerne County detectives and state police Northeast Computer Crime Task Force served a search warrant at Tompkins’ residence and found a computer that allegedly had four saved video files of child pornography on its hard drive, the complaint says.

Tompkins allegedly admitted to possessing and distributing child pornography, and sending lewd videos from his AOL emails to his Hotmail emails as a way to save the videos, according to the complaint.

Authorities said they recovered six videos of child pornography in Tompkins’ emails.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled on March 19.
