Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz announced the February 2014 monthly report for District Court 11-1-04, which serves Avoca, Dupont, Duryea, Hughestown and Yatesville boroughs, Jenkins and Pittston townships and Pittston City.

During February, 468 cases were filed. There were 41 criminal complaints including misdemeanor and felony charges; 46 civil complaints involving amounts in controversy of up to $12,000; 17 landlord-tenant complaints; 289 traffic citations and 75 non-traffic summary citations.

The office collected and disbursed to each municipal entity the statutory fines and costs due to each municipality according to state law as follows: $2,490 to Avoca, $859 to Dupont, $1,197 to Duryea, $233 to Hughestown, $497 to Jenkins Township, $1,803 to Pittston City, $821 to Pittston Township and $10 to the Pittston Area School District. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania received $28,427 and Luzerne County received $7,494 for the month.

Kravitz has performed 12 wedding ceremonies since taking office at the beginning of 2014.
