WILKES-BARRE — The Best Western Genetti Hotel & Conference Centerwill will expand the Oyster brand with a Oyster Boutique Hotel in Wilkes Barre.
Oyster is expanding its brand to a “boutique hotel” which will be located on the penthouse floors of the hotel tower. The Best Western hotel occupies four of the floors in this tower and the top two floors (sixth and seventh) will be upgraded and renovated into the Oyster Boutique Hotel. Currently, this area is for extended stay hotel rooms and will be converted into the aforementioned “boutique hotel.”
A “boutique hotel” is a collection of upgraded rooms with amenities that are not normally found in many of the upscale hotel brands.
The Oyster Boutique Hotel will boast three suites which will include the Oyster Bridal Suite and a business meeting enabled suite.
The project will begin in the near future and be completed by the fall of this year.
“The Oyster Boutique Hotel & Restaurant will complement each other for the select corporate traveler or choice visitor to our area,” a news release announcing the project stated. “The design and feel of the upgraded rooms will be reminisce of the Oyster Restaurant and Oyster Weddings.
Owner Gus Genetti announced the project and will “approach yet another dimension of service and amenity to the Wilkes Barre property.”
Genetti’s has served the community for over 50 years and more recently with a conference and convention center together with hotel rooms under the Best Western flag. A $2 million renovation of the Best Western Genetti Hotel resulted in an additional diamond to their AAA rating and will soon be upgraded to a Best Western Plus property.
According to a news release, the Oyster Restaurant was part of the renaissance in downtown Wilkes Barre in 2008 and was been nationally recognized as a culinary treat to many travelers.
