I’m writing this opinion letter in response to Bill Bohn concerning the proposal of a new fire truck for WP. Friends and fellow readers, I tried to contact Mr. Bohn at his residence. As I stated in my first letter regarding this, I didn’t know all the particulars, but it felt I knew enough. I also spoke to other WP taxpayers who weren’t very keen on the idea either. Being that Mr. Bohn seems to know all the particulars, I thought he might educate me. However, he did not return my calls. Instead he felt the need to play the role of “the latest victim” of my letters, mentioning the fact that I write to the Dispatch often.

Mr. Bohn, I am sorry if you feel I was targeting the hose company and your proposal. That was not my intention. However, you must also realize that WP residents have had their share of projects stuffed down their throats. At least we’re not reacting as badly as certain people did when I opposed a project a few years back.

As for attending council meetings, a lot of people don’t attend them. In my opinion, many people feel their presence wouldn’t make a difference anyway. Look at the town’s recent problems. Can you blame them?

And as for my need to write letters, I have the right to voice my opinion, just like I did about your fire truck. I know some people who would have done a lot more than write letters if their wives and themselves were targeted and threatened. I feel the need to tell my story to my fellow readers and fellow taxpayers. Many are interested. I receive many emails and get stopped in public by people who tell me they enjoy my letters and to keep up the good work. And they’re sincere about it, Mr. Bohn. Very sincere. I’m good at spotting phonies. I’ve had some practice.

So let me say it one more time. You’ve got a 12 year old truck. It’s my opinion and the opinion of others that it’s perfectly suitable and a far cry from the horse drawn buggy you described.
