The Rotary Club of Wyoming recently hosted their Annual Great Cash Give Away. The following organizations received funds: the Wyoming / West Wyoming Little League, Camp Cadet, Wyoming Hose Co. #1 and #2, West Wyoming Hose Co. #1 and #2, Exeter Fire Company, Exeter Park Fire Co., the West Pittston Hose Co. #1, the Wyoming Free Library, West Pittston Library, CYC, Wyoming Ambulance, West Wyoming Ambulance, Exeter Community Ambulance, West Pittston Ambulance, Greater Pittston YMCA, Wyoming Recreation Board, West Wyoming Recreation Board, Association for the Blind, and The Luzerne Foundation c/o West Pittston Pool.

The annual contributions were presented as a part of the Rotary’s community service. The guests were treated to dinner and were given an opportunity to speak to the club briefly.

Battle of Wyoming

The Wyoming Commemorative Association will hold their annual commemorative ceremony in tribute to the Massacre and Battle of Wyoming on Saturday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at the Wyoming Monument National Historic Site on Wyoming Avenue.

Founded in 1878 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Revolutionary War Battle of Wyoming, this year’s event will be the Association’s 132nd annual observance.

The ceremony features a band concert by the Wyoming Valley Band, floral tributes and a keynote speaker. The event is free and open to the public.

Tour of Churches

Fifth Annual Tour of Historic Churches of Greater Pittston visiting the churches of Wyoming and West Wyoming Sunday June 20 beginning at Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Sixth Street Wyoming at 1pm. Participants will be taken by trolley to the various churches along the tour route. Participants are asked to wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for visiting active houses of worship. The tour begins at Saint Joseph’s and should last 3 hours. This is a free event.

Library Hours

The Wyoming Free Library is now on Facebook. Look for information about upcoming programs there. Remember if you have slightly used books or DVDs the library will gladly accept them. They are tax deductible. You can also donate books and DVDs as memorials.

The Wyoming Library will have the following hours for the week of June 20-26: Monday, June 21 10 a.m. – 1:30 pm, Tuesday, June 22 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 23 9 a.m. – 4 p.m, Thursday, June 24 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 25 10 a.m. – 6 p.m, Saturday, June 26 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Senior Citizens

The Wyoming/ West Wyoming Seniors meeting is Tuesday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Hall with Frank Perfinski presiding. Members who celebrated birthdays in June were honored. They were Irene Zelinski,Stanley Mulesky, Joe Shymanski, Charlotte Piezola, Mary Mattani, Angie Mastruzzo and Dora Kraynak. Bakers for the next meeting are Theresa Alexander, Marion Poceschi, and Alice

Daniels. The Fifty-Fifty winners were Theresa Kennedy, Genny Labathy, Mickey DeSalvo and Marie Mattina. Bingo Jackpot winner was Angie Mastruzzo. The guest speaker next meeting is Dr. Frank Yanik, Chiropractor who will speak on all phasesof Arthritis. The annual picnic will be held July 20 at Francis Slocum State Park. More detail later. New members arealways welcome and parking is plentiful and for the handicapped.

Classic Car Show

Wyoming Lodge #468 will hold an Antique / Classic Car Show on Saturday, June 26 (rain or shine) at Flack Field, Colonial Drive, Wyoming. (behind Kasarda’s Greenhouse). Registration will be from 8 am-12pm, Judging: 12:30 – 2 p.m. and awards will be at 3 p.m. Car show pre-registration fee is $6 before June 20. After June 20 – $8.

A flea market will also be held. Reservations for flea market space are $10. You must register in advance for a flea market space. Food vendors will be on site as well. Woodloch Pines

St Joseph’s Christian Mothers will run a bus trip to Woodloch Pines on Wednesday, September 15, to see the show Nightclubs Around the World. The cost of the trip is $60, which includes an eight-course dinner of Tenderloin of Beef or Fish. The trip will depart St Joseph’s at 3:45 p.m. and return at midnight. Call Noreen at 693-0363.
