WILKES-BARRE — The union representing more than 400 registered nurses as Wilkes-Barre General Hospital has filed unfair labor complaints against the hospital’s parent company, Tennessee-based Community Health Systems.
The allegations included failure to provide information during contract negotiations, interference with workers’ rights to communicate their concerns to the public and making illegal changes to working conditions, benefits and wages.
An official with the National Labor Relations Board signed on order April 23 consolidating four cases filed by the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals against Wilkes-Barre Hospital Co. LLC.
The union has been working under the terms of the contract that expired April 30, 2013.
The NLRB set a hearing for July 14 in Philadelphia.
