Better enjoy the nice weather today while it lasts — rain and possibly some thunderstorms will be the trend for the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 42 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. It was a bit cooler than the past few days, but the sunshine almost made sunglasses a must for the morning commute.
The sunshine will stick around for the remainder of the day, with the high climbing to the upper 60s. Clouds will move into the area tonight — showers will also be likely, and possibly some thunderstorms after 11 p.m. Between a quarter and half an inch of rain is possible. The low tonight will be around 50 degrees.
Showers and thunderstorms will be likely before 9 a.m. Thursday, and the chance for both will continue for most of the day. Between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is possible, but more could fall during thunderstorms. Thursday’s high will be in the upper 60s.
The chance for rain and thunderstorms will carry on into Thursday night, with less than a tenth of an inch of rain expected. More rain is possible during any potential thunderstorms. Thursday night’s low will reach the upper 50s.
There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, with a high in the mid 70s expected. That chance for showers and thunderstorms will carry on into Friday night, with the low only dropping to 60 degrees.
