The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission cautions motorists that a 13-mile stretch of the Northeastern Extension (I-476) will be closed in both directions for six hours Sunday between Lansdale (Exit 31) and Quakertown (Exit 44) for bridge work.
At 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, southbound traffic will be diverted off at the Quakertown Interchange and northbound at the Lansdale Interchange.
Motorists wishing to travel north from the Mid-County Interchange or the east/west Turnpike mainline will be directed to exit I-476 at Lansdale.
The stretch will reopen by 6 a.m.
Right lanes will be closed in both directions from milepost A35–A39 at 8 p.m. tonight. The speed limit will be 40 mph until single-lane patterns are lifted Sunday morning.
State police and turnpike personnel will be at the Lansdale and Quakertown interchanges to assist motorists. For more information, visit www.paturnpike.com/constructionprojects/mpA31toA38.
In the event of inclement weather, the closure will be rescheduled for May 17-18.
