City police are seeking a man suspected of breaking into a woman’s home and assaulting her late Saturday.

The victim, a resident of North Main Street’s 600 block, told police she awoke around 11:30 p.m. to see Charles Brown, a 39-year-old black man, standing over her bed, police said.

She said Brown assaulted her, and police saw signs of recent injury, they said.

A door to the home had apparently been forced in, police said.

Brown, who lives along South Welles Street, fled the scene before police arrived.

Felony burglary charges, as well as lesser charges for simple assault, making terroristic threats, harassment and criminal mischief, have been filed against Brown.

Anyone with knowledge of Brown’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 with the information.
