The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) of Lackawanna County’s Office of Youth and Family Services is hosting an art exhibit at the County’s Entrepreneurship Launch Pad located on the first floor of The Scranton Electric Building, 507 Linden St., as part of the First Friday, June 6 activities from 5 – 8 p.m.
First Friday is a unique venue for young artists in our community to “get on the map.” The YAB Art Exhibit will display art in various mediums created by current and former foster youth. The works represent the feelings of the youth, positive or negative, regarding their experience in foster care, their experiences that led them to foster care, and their future dreams. A former foster youth believes the art exhibit display will help to “raise awareness about young person’s experiences in foster care.”
The YAB is comprised of current or former foster youth working to improve the foster care experience through education, advocacy, and partnerships.
The public is invited to stop by the exhibit to meet the artists, enjoy the works, and learn about the impact that foster care is having on the lives of area youth.
