DUNMORE — Traffic patterns on the Veterans Memorial (Pierce Street) Bridge connecting Wilkes-Barre and Kingston will change on Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced.

PennDOT and Fahs Construction will shift the current westbound traffic, from Wilkes-Barre to Kingston, to the new westbound driving lane on the bridge.

The eastbound traffic, from Kingston to Wilkes-Barre, will continue to use the current eastbound driving lane starting on Thursday.

The new traffic pattern, Phase 3, will be in use for the next two to three weeks, PennDOT spokesman Michael Taluto said in a news release.

This work is in preparation for the placement of a median barrier and mountable curb off the bridge.

Alternate lane closures will be used 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Minor traffic delays may be experienced. Scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change. All bridge work expected to be completed by July 8.
