WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Shaun T. Butler is on Facebook but not by his choice.
Butler, 32, was listed by the township police department on Tuesday as its “Warrant of the Week” feature on the department’s Facebook page.
Not long after Butler’s picture was posted, he was captured.
Township police allege Butler had stolen a television valued at $320 from Sears, Wyoming Valley Mall, on March 9. Butler allegedly drove away with the television in a Saturn, according to the criminal complaint.
Kingston police charged Butler with stealing Kool-Aid tropical punch drink mix and a Quaker Oats apple nut multi-grain bar valued at $6.36 from Walgreens Pharmacy, Wyoming Avenue, on Jan. 14.
Butler allegedly told police he had stolen the Kool-Aid because he was thirsty, the complaint says.
Kingston police also charged Butler with possessing heroin during a traffic stop at Market Street and Wright Avenue on Dec. 30.
Butler was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Michael Dotzel on separate counts of retail theft and one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the county prison for lack of $4,500 bail.
Court records say an arrest warrant was issued for Butler by Luzerne County Judge Fred Pierantoni III on March 21 when he failed to appear for a pre-trial hearing on separate retail theft cases and a robbery charge in Kingston.
Kingston police charged Butler with robbing the Sunoco service station on Market Street with a knife on Dec. 25, 2012.
Butler is also facing two unrelated retail theft charges in county court alleging he had stolen items from two Wilkes-Barre Township stores, Walmart Supercenter on Nov. 30, 2012, and Kohl’s on Nov. 29, 2012, according to court records.
