WILKES-BARRE — A Hanover Township man who killed an elderly Nanticoke couple in a 2011 truck crash is seeking early parole, according to court documents.
Kevin Allen, 37, pleaded guilty last July in connection with the wreck that left Edward Skwirut, 89, and his wife, Dorothy, 86, dead after their 2006 Chevrolet Impala was struck by a truck, driven by Allen, which was hauling 960 pounds of concrete mix.
Allen, of Martin Street, was sentenced in September to spend 10 to 23 months in county prison and was incarcerated on two counts of homicide by motor vehicle and related driving offenses.
Luzerne County Judge Fred Pierantoni today set a July 16 hearing date on Allen’s request. His minimum sentence would be up as of July 27, documents state.
The request, filed by defense attorney Basil G. Russin, indicates that Allen has had no misconduct citations and previously was allowed by Pierantoni to participate in the work release program, under which Allen was allowed out to work at an Edwardsville pizzeria.
