HUGHESTOWN — Newspaper and cardboard will be collected Mondays. Boxes must be tied, and no oversized boxes are accepted. Comingled recyclables will be collected Tuesdays, including glass, cans and bottles. Yard waste will be collected Wednesdays, including grass and tied branches no more than 3 feet long. NEWPORT TWP. — The face period for 2014 county/municipal tax bills ends June 30. The penalty period begins July 1 and adds 10% to the bill. If paying by mail, the envelope must be postmarked by the end of the face period. If a receipt is required, enclose the entire bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. NEWPORT TWP. — Due to the July 4th holiday, the following changes are in place for the refuse and recycling schedule: Paper recycling will be collected July 2 for Lee, Glen Lyon and Wanamie; July 3 for Alden, Sheatown and Ridgeview. Refuse will be collected July 3 for Lee and Glen Lyon; July 4 for Alden, Sheatown, Ridgeview and Wanamie.
ASHLEY — The borough will be closed July 4 for the holiday. The following changes are in place for the refuse and recycling schedule: There will be no recyclables collection on July 2. Garbage collected on July 3 will be collected July 2; garbage collected on July 4 will be collected July 3.
ASHLEY — Garbage stickers for the last half of the year are available at the borough building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. After July 3, there will be no evening hours. The cost is $115.00 until July 10. The cost to have the stickers mailed is $116.80. After July 10 there will be a $10 late fee. Every property must have current stickers or a citation will be issued with a $300 fine plus court costs. The last day to use green stickers is July 3.
