Barriers coming down, Veterans’ Memorial Bridge to reopen all lanes

After three years of using different lanes on the Veterans’ Memorial Bridge due to a resurfacing project, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Tuesday morning that the bridge will open in both directions.


Fahs Construction replaced the deck of the bridge that connects Wilkes-Barre and Kingston at a cost of $6 million. The project began in August 2011 that alternated lanes while the resurfacing took place.


The traffic pattern is scheduled to be lifted and all lanes are expected to reopen at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
