WILKES-BARRE — City police charged a man from Luzerne with aiming handgun at two people waiting to use an automated-teller machine on Public Square Monday night.

John W. Psolka, 70, was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats when police said he aimed a gun at a 44-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman from Wilkes-Barre at about 11:14 p.m.

Police allege the couple was waiting to use an ATM when Psolka told them to leave. The couple continued to wait when Psolka allegedly aimed a gun at them and laughed, police said.

Police said Psolka had a firearm in his waistband and another firearm in his front pocket. Both firearms were loaded, police said.
