WILKES-BARRE — Two inmates who failed to return to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility while on work release and medical release were arraigned Tuesday on escape charges.

According to the criminal complaints:

James Bennett Kimmel, 51, last known address as Charles Street, Kingston, was released on July 3 for employment at a painting business in Pittston and failed to return by 8 p.m.

Court records say Kimmel was sentenced July 23, 2013, to six-months to one-year on charges of false identification to authorities and resisting arrest.

Frederick Charles Moran, 25, of Barney Street, Larksville, was released to an inpatient treatment facility on May 13, and was instructed to report to the correctional facility upon completion. Moran allegedly walked away from the inpatient facility on June 13, the complaints say.

Court records say Moran was sentenced on a theft charge for stealing two air conditioners and a generator from his father’s residence in Larksville.

Kimmel and Moran were arraigned by District Judge James Tupper in Kingston Township and remanded to the county correctional facility for lack of $50,000 bail each.
