WILKES-BARREBecoming an American Red Cross blood or platelet donor is the focus of the July Newsmakers program, which airs this Sunday.

The monthly public affairs program is hosted by Senior Producer Jayne Ann Bugda and the I-Team’s Andy Mehalshick.

Joining them will be Robert Kessler, chief executive officer for American Red Cross Penn-Jersey/Northeastern Pennsylvania Blood Services Region; Jodi Ferris, blood recipient; Peter Bonczewski, For the Love of Pete organizer; and William Goldsworthy, platelet donor.

The panel will discuss the donation process and give personal accounts of how blood and platelet donations helped them or a loved one and how they are now paying it forward to help others. Colin Riccobon of the America Red Cross was instrumental is coordinating this program. Newsmakers will air Sunday at 6:30 a.m. on WYOU. The program will also air on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. on WBRE.
