The University of Scranton’s Weinberg Memorial Library seeks book donations and volunteers. The library is requesting book and tag sale donations for its annual spring sale, as well as volunteers to help with preparation and staffing for the event. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library Endowment. Accepted are: any hardcover or paperback books in good condition, including children’s books, cookbooks, fiction and non-fiction, as well as media and tag sale items. 2015 Glenburn Township Spring Cleanup, May 8 and 9. Residents are asked to place cleanup items curbside for pickup by 5 a.m. Friday, May 8, to be picked up on either Friday or Saturday at the discretion of the contractor. Metals must be kept separate from other materials. Items that will not be picked up include: Regular household trash, recyclables, grass or leaves, non-compatible items such as brick, block and concrete, cast iron, auto parts, tires, batteries, motor oil or lubricants, non-water base paint and lacquers and stains (dried up water base paint cans okay), paint thinners or turpentine, pesticides, hazardous, noxious, caustic, or acid chemicals, asbestos, metal drums, propane tanks, oil or gas containing items, explosives of any type including gun loading materials and electronics. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must be certified Freon free with a tag containing the technicians ID number and dated.
