Ronald Bishop

    onald “Ron” A. Bishop, of Lake Carey, Tunkhannock, died Wednesday at
home.
   

   
Born June 19, 1930 in Jackson, Mich., he was the son of the late Marvel and
Rena (Montgomery) Bishop. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and
received an associate’s degree from Jackson Community College. He owned and
operated Bishop Glass, Tunkhannock, before retiring in 1995. He was
superintendent of the Wyoming County Maintenance Office of the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation from 1971 to 1979 and previously worked for Reed
& Kuhn Construction Co., Elysburg, in area construction of the Susquehanna
River Bridge, Mehoopany. He a member of the Eatonville United Methodist Church
and chairman of its administrative board. He was president of Lake Carey
Chapel and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
   
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Mae Felix.
   
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, the former Mary Swetland; son, Randy,
Dallas; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and
nephews.
   

   
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Eatonville United Methodist
Church, with the Rev. J. Daniel Herron, pastor, officiating. Interment will be
in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Friday at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock,
and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to
the Eatonville United Methodist Church, c/o Florence Kingston, RR 1, Box 1500,
Factoryville, 18419; or to the Lake Carey Chapel, c/o John Fassett, 1040
Northtown and River Drive, Fort Myers, Fla., 33931.
