WILKES-BARRE — A Forty Fort woman who has had success with beauty pageants will be one of the participants in the next season of “The Bachelor.”
Elise Mosca, 27, is a first-grade teacher at Dodson Elementary School and the reigning Miss Philadelphia International.
She’s participating the prime-time TV dating game show, where she is competing against other women for a relationship with Juan Pablo Galavis.
Galavis is a former professional soccer player who retired in 2008. His career included playing with several professional teams in Venezuela and Miami.
The series revolves around an available bachelor, who goes on a series of dates with a pool of potential romantic interests throughout the series.
Women are eliminated throughout the season until the bachelor chooses his final selection.
John Mosca, Elise’s father, said neither he, nor his daughter nor the show’s publicist could discuss the show until either it concluded or if Elise left early for some reason.
The show is set to air during a two-night premiere at 8 p.m. Jan. 5 on ABC.
Mosca was named Miss Italia Stati Uniti New York in 2011. John Mosca, Elise’s father, said she the distinction made her eligible to go to Italy to compete in the Miss Italia nel Mondo competition.
The competition is one that features women from all over the world that are at least 50 percent Italian.
Elise competed with 39 other women, and was eliminated in the first round along with 19 other women.
Elise also competed in Altoona earlier this year for the title Miss Pennsylvania International, where she was the second runner-up.
