JACKSON TWP. — John Saranchuk of Duryea will replace Jerome Leedock as police chief of Jackson Township as the result of action taken at Monday night’s township supervisors meeting.

Leedock retired in December.

Saranchuk has been serving as acting police chief of Dupont borough for the past three years. He said he will continue in that position while serving as chief in Jackson Township.

Board Vice Chairman Al Fox announced the township is in the process of upgrading to a more interactive website, which will be hosted by the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors.

Chairman Jay Wilkes said the website will have more features than the township’s present one and will include police reports and zoning reports.

Wilkes said the township does not yet have a domain name for the site but hopes to announce that at February’s meeting.

In their reorganization meeting, supervisors made no changes in their assignments or in township board committee appointments.

Also, the supervisors approved a 1.75 percent raise for all non union/non contracted employees.

The next meeting will be Feb. 3 at 6 p.m.
