AVOCA — Police captured a man wanted on charges of sexual battery in Florida during a traffic stop on Main Street on Tuesday.
Rubin Perdoza-Platas, 39, of Winter Haven, Florida, was driving a tractor-trailer on Main Street when he was stopped for a traffic violation by Officer Michael Rosemellia.
A records check showed Perdoza-Platas was wanted by the Seminole County, Fla, Sheriff’s Department on charges of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation of a child, police said.
Perdoza-Platas was arraigned by District Judge Alexandra Kokura-Kravitz in Pittston on a fugitive from justice charge. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.
