Luzerne County Judge Fred Pierantoni has removed Attorney Shelley Centini from defending Hugo Selenski on two counts of criminal homicide.
Pierantoni has found that there was a conflict of interest with Centini defending Selenski due to charges filed by the state Office of Attorney General alleging Centini and Selenski intimidated at least five prosecution witnesses.
With Centini’s removal, Selenski is left with one attorney — Edward Rymsza — on the case.
Rymsza refused to be the lead defense lawyer but said he will continue defending Selenski in a secondary role.
Pierantoni has scheduled a trial for May, which likely will be continued again.
