Plains Township police on Saturday said Paul Avans of Reading faces a number of charges after he allegedly was disorderly at the Woodlands Inn & Resort on state Route 315.

Police said they were called to the Woodlands at 1:10 a.m. and were informed that Avans was intoxicated and was no longer being served drinks in the bar area.

According to police:

Avans became agitated and began throwing objects and refusing to go back to his room. He eventually complied, but police were called back because Avans went into the lobby and became disorderly. Avans was advised he had to leave the property and he refused, locking himself inside a bathroom. Avans struggled with officers and was removed from the property.

Avans was arrested and charged with defiant trespassing, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was taken to county prison for overnight arraignment.
