Authorities arrest five people on drug offenses

WILKES-BARRE — City police and state police Vice and Narcotics Unit teamed up to arrest five people on charges they sold heroin.


Emilio Santiago, 36, of South Sherman Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested after he allegedly sold heroin in a parking lot on Hazle Street.


Nihem S. Behlin, 25, of North River Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested after he allegedly sold heroin in the area of South Sherman and Northampton streets.


Darrell “Butter” Butler, 23, of East Lafayette Place, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested after he allegedly sold heroin in the area of Nicholson Street.


David Torres, 25, of Kelly Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, allegedly sold heroin in the area of West Ross and South River streets. Authorities allegedly found heroin hidden in Torres’ rectum, according to arrest papers.


Jamar Howard, 33, of Sheridan Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested after he allegedly sold heroin in the area of Sheridan and East Northampton streets.


They were arraigned Thursday morning by District Judge Paul Roberts in Kingston and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail each.
