WILKES-BARRE — A man charged with killing his wife before attempting to take his own life has pleaded not guilty to an open count of criminal homicide in Luzerne County Court.
Vito Aiello, 48, of Andover Street, Wilkes-Barre, entered his plea before Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. on Friday.
City police and county detectives allege Aiello shot and killed his wife, Jane Aiello, 47, inside their home on Sept. 26. Aiello then shot himself in the head and survived. The couple’s 15-year-old son was inside the house at the time of the shooting, according to the criminal complaint.
Aiello is represented by attorney Demetrius Fannick.
A trial date has not been scheduled.
