Carsyn Cole, of Duryea, was in for surprise of her life on St. Patrick’s Day. But she didn’t know it when she went to visit her nana, Pat Cole, a hostess at Terry’s Diner in Moosic that afternoon.
Carsyn had the best seat in the house for the unexpected arrival of Vice President Joe Biden, who stopped at Terry’s to greet diners, discuss health care reform and take home two loaves of Irish soda bread.
The young girl from Duryea spoke with Biden, who asked her where she attends school and if she plays sports. When Carsyn shared with him that she attends Holy Rosary School, Biden indicated that he, too, attended a Holy Rosary School; his school, however, was in Delaware.
Carsyn received a hug and kiss from Biden and was interviewed by WNEP-TV for a news segment, as well as by The Times Leader. She stated that “…I’ll never forget this” and “It was amazing. I couldn’t have wished for anything better today!”
Carsyn is the daughter of Donna and Bob Cole, Duryea.
Vice President Biden was in the area for the Greater Pittston Sons of St. Patrick 100th anniversary dinner held at the Woodlands Inn and Resort on Monday.
