SUGARLOAF TWP. — Penn State Hazleton will offer courses for lifeguard certification and recertification through the American Red Cross in April. Participants must be at least 15 years old before the last scheduled class session and must successfully complete a pre-test from 5 to 6 p.m. on April 16.

The certification course will be 5 to 9 p.m. April 18 and 25 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 19 and 26. The fee is $250. The recertification course, for those who have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification, will be 5 to 9 p.m. April 25 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26. The fee is $65.

Upon successful completion of the course, an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for two years, will be issued.

The pre-test and all courses will be at Penn State Hazleton swimming pool in the lower level of the physical education building. Participation in all class sessions is required. For more information or to register, call 570-450-3576 or email lmw24@psu.edu.
