Ron Gitkos said the turnout was one of the best ever.

He was referring to the throngs who lined the streets and displayed the Ameircan flag on their homes for the annual West Pittston/Exeter Meorial Day parade. The parade on Monday started in West Pitston and concluded with a ceremony at St. Cecilia’s Church parking lot in Exeter.

Featured speaker was USAF Major John “Slick” Baum. Baum enlisted in the Air Force as an Avionics Sensors Specialist and was awarded an AFROTC scholarship to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He graduated with honors receiving a B.S. in Aeronautical Science in 1999 and a M.S. in Aeronautical Science in 2008.

One of his accomplishments is flying with the prestigious Thunderbird Team in 2009-2010.

Baum is currently a command pilot and has flown combat missions over Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Wyoming Area graduate Faith Musinski sang the National Anthem and Rita Gubbiotti sang “God Bless America.”
