DALLAS — The Borough Council approved a modification to a conditional use application submitted by Verizon Wireless at a hearing prior to the regular council meeting Wednesday.

Verizon plans to build a 130-foot cell tower on the Twin Stacks property and had sought to remove a condition that required the company to secure a highway occupancy permit from PennDOT prior to obtaining building or zoning permits.

The motion allows Verizon to seek final subdivision and land development approval from the county, and subsequently building and zoning permits from the borough with modifications that include installing a stop sign at the driveway exit, and making pavement markings.

Council announced that the owner of the Twin Stacks property must obtain a highway occupancy permit for the driveway within 18 months.

During the regular meeting, council:

• Voted to send a letter of intent/purchase order to Beyer Fleet to purchase a 2015 Police Interceptor sedan at a price of $37,819.

• Affirmed payment of $94,202 to A&H Equipment for 50 percent of the cost of a new street sweeper jointly purchased with Lehman Township. A Local Share Assessment Grant in the amount of $64,308, through the Back Mountain Community Partnership, will help offset the cost of the sweeper.

· Announced that the annual spring clean-up will be held May 4 through 9 at the borough building from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Call the borough administration office for details.

Council’s next work session will be held at 7 p.m. May 18. The next regular meeting will be held May 20.
