JACKSON TWP. — Township supervisors announced Monday that a large gaming grant they applied for in conjunction with the Lake-Lehman School District has been awarded.
The grant will provide for improvements to the district’s sports facilities, including a walking trail and new turf for the district’s football field. The facilities will be open to use by township residents.
Supervisor Allen Fox said skillful grant writing ensured that the project would be completed at no cost to township residents. He said all fees had been included in the grant.
After the meeting, Board Chairman John Jay Wilkes Jr. said the Lake-Lehman grant project was in its early stages.
“We have not received the initial paperwork,” he said. Wilkes has not yet met with district personnel about the grant, but he added, “I’m confident that we’ll be getting together very soon.”
In other matters:
· Supervisors authorized the township engineer to advertise for bids for a stormwater improvement project on Timbergrove Road.
· The supervisors also approved the co-filing of a state recycling grant with West Wyoming Borough. The grant monies would provide for recycling containers to be used in the township’s recycling program.
