LEHMAN TWP. — The Jewish Community Center in Wilkes-Barre held a Dance-Athon at its day camp near Harveys Lake on Sunday afternoon to raise money for the group’s summer day camp scholarship fund.

The event, organized by JCC Zumba instructor Jody Nogin, featured several popular instructors from throughout the area leading participants in workouts in Piloxing, Hip Hop, Zumba and dance.

“It’s very rare to get so many talented instructors together to participate in an event like our’s today,” Nogin said. “We’re very grateful.”
The instructors who volunteered their services included: Diane Butwin of the Greater Pittston YMCA, Gina Boyle from Sweat in Luzerne, Tony Balucha from the Wilkes-Barre YMCA and Lauren Cooper of Cooper Dance Studios in Wilkes-Barre.

“We’re really excited about this event because the summer season is almost here,” day camp Assistant Director Sara Pisarz said. “And all the money we raise today will go directly into the camp’s scholarship fund.”
The Dance-Athon featured a number of raffles and giveaways, and entertainment was provided by DJ Optimum.
Organizers said they wanted to thank all the volunteers and donors who contributed to make the event a success.
Donations can be made payable to JCA at the JCC or by contacting Camp Director Rick Evans at 570-824-4646.
