BUTLER TWP. — Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle from a township car lot.

Police say that employees from Butler Valley Auto Sales on South Hunter Highway discovered that the building had been broken into when reporting to work on Thursday morning. A subsequent inventory of vehicles on the lot revealed that a dark green 2007 Ford Edge had been stolen.

Police say the suspect also drove a second vehicle a short distance, but abandoned it to steal the Edge. Police also believe that the suspect stole a license plate from a nearby residence to conceal the identity of the stolen Edge.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police. The Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Sciences Unit assisted at the scene.
