WILKES-BARREThe Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of GRASP (Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing) is hosting an International Overdose Awareness Day event from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 31 at Pavilion 1 in Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre.

Guest Speakers include Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis; Darlene Magdalinski, president of United We Stand Divided We Fall; and Mike Donahue, of Luzerne County Drug and Alcohol. There will be free hot dogs and drinks, face painting, an information table and silver ribbon pins.

A “Guests of Honor Table” and bulletin board will be set up for guests to place pictures and items such as candles, artwork or poetry of their loved ones so every guest has an opportunity to share and celebrate the memory of a loved one who died of an overdose.
