WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded grants to two area fire companies to be used for operations and safety training and equipment.

The Kunkle Fire Company along Route 309 in Dallas Township received $226,800 and the Mt. Zion Bicentennial Volunteer Fire Company, which is along Mt. Zion Road in Exeter Township, received $113,536, according to a news release from U.S. Sen Bob Casey’s office.

The money is awarded through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighter’s Grant program.
