BENEFITS AREA LIBRARIES — Chester Street Elementary School, Kingston,
sponsored a raffle to benefit the Hoyt and Plymouth Public Libraries. Checks
were presented to the Librarians by the principle and head teacher. Seated,

BROWNIE TROOP #329 AIDS THE ENVIRONMENT — Members of Brownie Troop #329
and their friends recently collected litter around Rice Elementary School,
Mountaintop. Garbage bags and gloves were purchased through an Earth Kids Club
Grant from Hill’s Department Store which was arranged by the Rice Elementary
PTA. In conjunction with the Grant, several small trees and bushes will be
planted to attract birds and other wildlife to the school’s campus.

    ACCOUNTANTS AID MARCH OF DIMES — For the eighth consecutive year,
employees from Parente, Randolph, Orlando, Carey & Associates joined the March
of Dimes in their Campaign for Healthier Babies by participating in the

FSA AWARDED KIRBY GRANT — Family Service Association of Wyoming Valley has
received a $10,000 grant from the F.M. Kirby Foundation, Inc. The gift is to
enhance the agency’s Guardianship Program for Incapacitated Adults. The F.M.
Kirby Foundation, based in Morristown, N.J., each year recognizes a limited
number of health, educational, cultural, religious and other charitable
organizations whose programs are reflective of important, contemporary

WEGMANS DONATES DOLLARS TO AHA — The Luzerne County Division of the
American Heart Association was presented a check for $1,000 from Wegmans Food
Markets of Wilkes-Barre. The presentation was made at the AHA’s annual Heart
Ball held recently at the East Mountain Inn. Shown from left are: Jim

GUIDANCE COUNSELORS VISIT AREA — During the recent Counselor Tour of the
Catholic Colleges of Northeastern Pennsylvania, over forty high school
guidance counselors from four states visited the area’s Catholic Colleges.

DANKOS RAISES FUNDS FOR AHA — Dankos All American Fitness Center, North
River Street in Plains, recently held a Heart Challenges and Dance for Heart
event. Participants took part in various forms of heart-healthy workouts to
raise dollars for the benefit of the Luzerne County Division of the American

GFWC DONATES CHILDREN’S BOOKS — GFWC Northeastern recently donated 75
children’s books to Nesbitt Hospital as part of their ongoing project, “Books
for Babies.” The project provides new mothers with books to take home to
encourage reading to their children. GFWC Northeastern is a service club open
to all women interested in improving the community. Meetings are held the
fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at Dorrance United Methodist Church.
