WILKES-BARRE — City police are investigating gunfire in the area of 172 Coal St. early Tuesday morning.
Police said several gunshots were reported at about 12:13 a.m.
Officers were flagged down by a resident of 172 Coal St. who stated a rear window was shattered by a spent round.
A bullet fragment was recovered from a door at the residence, police said.
Police said they recovered nine 9mm shell casings in the area of 212-214 Coal St.
No injuries were reported.
It’s the second shooting in the same neighborhood within a day.
Police said a woman was found with a gunshot wound in the 100 block of North Meade Street at about 3:40 a.m. Monday. She was transported to a local medical facility for what police said were non-life threatening injuries.
Police have charged Sherman Wilborne, of Parkview Circle, Wilkes-Barre, with aggravated assault in connection to the shooting Monday morning.
