Electrical power has been restored to more than 2,000 customers in the Hazleton area.

About 2,207 customers lost power when a tree that a private contractor was cutting down for a resident living near Hazleton General Hospital fell on a power line, said Martha Herron, PPL spokeswoman for the Hazleton area.

Customers lost power at about 1:30 p.m. and it was restored to all customers by 2:45 p.m., Herron said.

Over 2,000 lose power in Hazleton area

More than 2,000 customers of PPL Electric Utilities have lost power in Hazleton and Hazle Township.

PPL is experiencing problems at the East Hazleton substation and is investigating the cause, Martha Herron, PPL spokeswoman for the Hazleton area.

According to PPL’s Outage Center webpage, 2,207 customers are experiencing an outage.
