America cannot afford four more years of the Obama-Clinton economy. With middle-class incomes stagnating, health care costs soaring, and Pennsylvania’s unemployment rising, it is time to chart a new course toward prosperity.

First, let’s examine where we are. After eight years of the Obama-Clinton agenda, Pennsylvania’s median household income has fallen more than $1,300, the poverty rate has gone up, and fewer Pennsylvanians have the opportunity to own their own homes.

Hillary Clinton wants to continue the high-tax, high-spending policies that have cut our family paychecks so the government can spend more of our money. As our national debt keeps climbing, Clinton is proposing an estimated $2 trillion in additional spending. Our country can’t afford to be left holding the check for Clinton’s out-of-control spending.

Clinton’s track record doesn’t improve when it comes to trade. From CAFTA to NAFTA, Clinton has a history of publicly appeasing special interest groups by attacking trade deals only to flip-flop later.

Clinton is also looking to add to the unemployment lines. She actually went on national television and promised to put our energy companies out of business, just so she could score some cheap points with the far-left elements of her party. Our region can’t afford to have a president who is promising to put people out of work.

Clinton, a Democrat, has made it clear that she is out of touch with the needs of America’s workers in small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy. She has a long track record of approving job-killing regulations in order to cozy up to shady, liberal, special interest groups.

Speaking of which, Clinton is the worst kind of politician, catering to lobbyists and big-time donors. Her use of her family foundation to allow foreign governments and big businesses to buy influence, which occurred while she was secretary of state, will only continue and have more disastrous effects if she is president.

It will not be the special interests who end up worse off because of a Clinton administration. It will be the small businesses and the hardworking men and women who will have to close their businesses, who will lose their jobs, and who will have to work part-time jobs just to make ends meet.

Donald Trump offers a new path based on common sense and economic opportunity.

The Republican Party’s candidate wants to reform our tax system that crushes families who need to have the chance to succeed. He wants to put a halt to the massive regulatory machine in Washington so there can be a thorough examination of what regulations are needed – and which regulations are not.

Trump also wants to fight for more energy jobs. While Clinton sees energy employment as a burden, Trump sees those jobs as the family-sustaining opportunities we need to make our commonwealth and our country prosperous once again.

He also will work to exclude rising childcare costs from a family’s taxable income, which would make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of our region’s families.

Clinton believes in the status quo because she’s benefited from it for decades. While Clinton believes she is owed the presidency, Trump wants to bring our country back from the economic brink.

I ask every reader to vote on Nov. 8 for Donald Trump. We simply cannot afford the alternative.

We need to ensure that all Americans are included in the thoughts of the president all the time, not just when their votes are needed. We need to ensure that our next president will put America on the right track toward prosperity.

We need to ensure that Donald Trump is our next president, to ensure our economy and jobs are protected.
