William Sr. and Mary DeAngelo, of Wilkes-Barre, recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.The couple was united in marriage Dec. 27, 1952, at Holy Rosary Church, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, by the late Rev. Myron Florey.

The late Jennie Rodano, cousin of the bride was maid of honor. Margaret (Gavin) Mersola was a bridesmaid, and niece of the bride Ann Ciavarella was flower girl. The late Paul Ciavarella, brother of the bride, was best man. The late Carl Mersola, brother of the groom, was usher, and Ben Ciavarella, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Mary is the daughter of the late Peter and Jeanette Ciavarella, of Wilkes-Barre, and Bill is the son of the late Anthony and Rosaria DeAngelo, of Center Moreland.

Bill and Mary have two children, daughter, Rosaria and her husband Paul B. Shaver III, of Shavertown, and son, William J. DeAngelo Jr. and his wife BethAnne, of Dallas. They have six grandchildren: Paul IV, Rosemary and Peter Shaver, and William III, Domnique and Dante DeAngelo.

Bill was a boxer and while he was training he met his future wife Mary. He gave up professional boxing and went into construction, building residential homes and then later, commercial structures. Bill and Mary, along with their son, are the owners of DeAngelo Construction of Wilkes-Barre.

Mary and Bill were honored at a 65th anniversary celebration with family and friends at Haystacks Restaurant, Wilkes-Barre.
