Pennsylvania American Water customers in parts of Wilkes-Barre Township, Hanover Township, and Laurel Run no longer have to boil their water before use. Acceptable bacteria test results were obtained from samples collected on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has authorized lifting of the precautionary advisory.

The advisory went into effect Wednesday after a water main broke along Allen Street in Hanover Township. Approximately 500 customers are affected.
