WILKES-BARRE — City police arrested two brothers on several charges early
Tuesday morning after a patrolman heard gunfire outside Gordy’s Cuckoo’s Nest
on South Main Street.

Carlos Dasilva, 35, of East Main Street, Glen Lyon, Newport Township, was
charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and
carrying firearms without a license.
Joseph Dasilva, 35, of the same address, was charged with recklessly
endangering another person, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence of
alcohol, and driving with a suspended license.

According to the police report, officer Brian Horst was on patrol when he
heard a gunshot in the area of South Main and Hanover streets. Horst then saw
a vehicle quickly leave from in front of Gordy’s Cuckoo’s Nest bar.

Horst pursued the vehicle to the area of South Franklin and Wood streets
where the vehicle stopped.

With another officer’s help, the Dasilvas were removed from the vehicle.
Police said a check of the vehicle revealed a loaded 12-gauge shotgun under
the front seat.

Both suspects were arraigned before District Justice Michael Collins,
Wilkes-Barre. Carlos Dasilva was sent to the Luzerne County Correctional
Facility on $7,500 bail and Joseph Dasilva was jailed on $5,000 bail.
